Journaling Foundations

For when you open the page and don't know what to write.

The first page is the hard one. You sit down, you write "today was fine", you read it back, you cringe slightly, and you close the notebook.

That's what this module is for. How to journal when you don't know what to write, and which journal prompts actually earn their place. How journaling for mental health works and where it stops. Whether morning or night suits you, and why the answer isn't the same for everyone. How to keep a daily practice without turning it into a chore. And why gratitude journaling backfires on some people, which is worth knowing before you decide you're bad at it.

No lesson here asks for a nice notebook or a free hour. Ten minutes written, or spoken if talking comes easier than typing. What matters is that it gets recorded, because what isn't written can't be read back, and what isn't read back shows you no pattern at all.

Never kept a journal? The first lesson is exactly that, how to journal when you don't know what to write. Already writing and getting nowhere with it? Skip ahead to the daily-practice lesson, then go straight to Pattern Work, which is where the reading-back happens.

This module is still blank.

I'm writing it one lesson at a time, and I'd rather publish late than publish filler. The glossary already has terms that carry across this module, so start there.
